During the late 1950's Margaret Lee took a job as a secretary for a publishing firm. She worked there for twenty-six years before retiring. In the early 1970's she entered a writing contest sponsored by New Horizon Publishers.

Her novel, The Homecoming, won first prize. After this book was published she began writing full time and never stopped.
